Source SDK FTW!

Panzer Thirteen here again with your daily dose of stuff from the mind of a gamer!

So, I’ve decided to participate in the βeta testing for Valve’s new SDK software. Previously, in order to switch between Orange Box games and those before, you’d have to put in a command in the startup options:

-engine ep1

So, now there is a drop down menu that lets you choose between the Orange Engine and Ep1 Engine. That is a nice improvement. I am also pleased to say that the Model Viewer and Hammer runs as smoothly as ever, and mapping is just as pleasant.

There have been many updates and bugfixes, including lighting fixes in Hammer, and HL2: EP2 mods available to create.

Complete list can be found here.

If you would like to participate in this βeta test, in the Steam client, all you need to do is go into your settings and change your βeta test information (see image at bottom).

If you would also learn how to map, check the tutorial section of fpsbanana.

Cheers,

da10x
